BROKEN - IN2
Broken or Broken in2 was created using the rust from found objects. Every two or three days, for the past seven months, I have been moving these rusty objects around the fabric, wrapping them, mixing them with vinegar, and waiting for the magic to happen. With this type of work, you learn to wait. You learn that results don’t have to be immediate. This process takes at least four days to produce prints, and the longer you wait, the better the results.
Working outdoors and creating these pieces is a fascinating process where you learn so much about nature. You start testing almost everything that catches your attention and begin creating with the elements you have at hand. These types of works teach you to wait, observe, and be present. You need to be in good physical condition because you have to bend down, lift the fabric, fold it, and move it around.
I grew up playing outside, running from one place to another, and I think that’s why I enjoy working and creating outdoors so much. I have conversations with birds and lizards; it’s a never-ending story. You immerse yourself in nature and start developing a different sense of space and time, understanding that you don’t need immediate results. Enjoy the process, dive into it, and learn more. Test, wait, and enjoy your process. Work with the weather. Enjoy the rain, work with the rain and dirt. Create only with what you have.
