ARTIST STATEMENT

My artwork is a reflection of my adventures, emotions, and lifestyle. I’m constantly seeking intense feelings, often traveling solo and embracing risk as part of my creative process. I work across various techniques, choosing what best expresses each idea—making it difficult to define my practice by a single medium. I love surprising myself with the directions my mind takes, pushing boundaries and discovering new ways to communicate. Every creative experience feels like a dream, filled with excitement and transformation. My art evolves with me, capturing the pulse of my journey and the depth of my inner world.

BIOGRAPHY

YO.jpg

Milena Arango is a Colombian visual artist based in Florida, whose work embodies risk, spontaneity and transformation. Inspired early by her mother’s curiosity and zest for life, Milena approaches art as a space for exploration, connection and vitality.

After earning her Visual Arts degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2001, she expanded her creative language through theatre, igniting a lifelong pursuit of experimentation. Exposure to diverse cultures and languages has enriched her perspective, infusing her practice with a global sensibility and a philosophy rooted in openness and reinvention.

Milena thrives on risk, embracing new techniques, unexpected materials and spontaneous processes to keep her work dynamic and alive. Her participation in multiple international art residencies has profoundly shaped her practice, offering fertile ground for growth and transformation.

Trusting her instincts, she approaches each project with fresh eyes, allowing intuition to guide her creative journey. Her work is raw, spontaneous and constantly evolving—reflecting both her artistic vision and her personal transformation.

For Milena, art is lifeblood: the rhythm of her heartbeat and the pulse of her daily inspiration. It fuels her soul, transcends boundaries and keeps her ever eager to create.
